Castle Combe; Cotswolds Staycation – Part 3

Featured in films such as War Horse, Stardust and the original Dr Doolittle, there is no need for an introduction. Quaint and untouched this is the perfect historic countryside village.

This was everything I wanted it to be and more.

Honey coloured stone, wonky windows and a tiny population of 344 this is the icing on my Cotswolds crown.

I even found my ideal country retreat…

Every turn is as beautiful as the next, with no part looking out of place. My heart began to melt…

No surprise then that it’s often referred to as ‘The Prettiest Village in England’…

Be sure to get here early, the streets get swarmed with tourists and for me this ruined just how peaceful the place was.

It’s also worth remembering to park a little out of the village and wander in. Parking is very limited (in the village) but walking allows you to take in so much more of your surroundings.

I can’t wait to go back and enjoy its tranquility again.
